New Horizon School recently concluded its annual Literacy Club Events Week, an initiative to promote reading, writing, and a love of literature among students of all grade levels. The event, which was organized by the school's Literacy Club, featured a variety of activities designed to engage students and spark their imaginations.
The event began on Monday with a book fair, where students had the opportunity to browse and purchase books from a variety of publishers. The book fair was attended by local authors and illustrators, who shared their experiences and provided insights into the world of writing and publishing.
Throughout the week, students participated in a wide range of activities, including writing workshops, poetry slams, and book clubs. There were also opportunities for students to share their own writing and receive feedback from their peers and teachers.
The event also featured several guest speakers, including local authors, poets, and journalists, who shared their experiences and provided insights into the world of writing and literature. The school's own writing and English teachers also gave presentations on the importance of writing, reading, and the love of literature.
One of the highlights of the event was the annual writing competition, where students from all grade levels submitted their writing pieces to be judged by a panel of local authors and English teachers. The competition was closely contested and generated a lot of excitement among students and parents.
The week concluded with an awards ceremony, where the winners of the various events and competitions were presented with trophies and prizes. The school's principal, who also attended the ceremony, praised the students for their hard work, creativity, and passion for literature, adding that the event would not have been possible without the support of the school's staff, teachers, and volunteers.
The school's Literacy Club Adviser, who organized the event, was also pleased with the outcome of the event, saying, "Literacy Club Events Week is an opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and creativity in writing and reading. It's not only about competing but also about fostering a love of literature and language. We are thrilled that our students were able to demonstrate these qualities throughout the week."
Literacy Club Events Week is an annual event at New Horizon School and it's an important part of the school's English education program. The school encourages all students to participate in the club and discover their own interests in literature and writing. The school believes that fostering a love of literature is crucial for developing critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills that will serve students well in the future.
